Sony PMB "browser has stopped working"

I recently purchased a Sony camera (model DSC-HX9V) and installed the Sony software (PMB) that came with the camera. I can't run the software after installation because it crashes after a few seconds, giving me this error message: "browser has stopped working." I uninstalled and reinstalled the software, with the same results.

My OS is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

If anyone can help, I would be most grateful. Thank you.

I contacted Sony support and they sent me to this site with detailed instructions on how to resolve the issue: http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C1016267

Following their instructions will take a while, so I don't yet know if my issue will be resolved, but I thought it would be useful to share the link at once.
