Hi,

I would suggest you to follow these steps and check if it helps:

Method 1:
Try booting the computer in safe mode and check if the same issue occurs:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Method 2:
Try performing clean boot and check if it helps:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

NOTE: After you have finished troubleshooting, make sure you put back the computer to normal startup mode as suggested in step7 from the above KB article.

Hope it helps.

It's very hard to know if safe mode or selective start helps because this problem occurs very randomly..

Look in your event viewer to see if you can find any references to a hang by an application such as YouTubes or videos.

If so, then please copy and paste the information here for further assistance.

I just bought a new Dell--expensive one at that. I receive the Event 1002, Application Hang error ALL THE TIME! It is very random on my machine as well. It  is very frustrating. Mine seems to produce this error when I am trying to work with one particular program the most; however, it has happened with all applications at one time or another. The Event Viewer shows no other clues as to what it could be.

Hi I have just fixed my computer- I think !

First.
Click control panel> system> advance system setting> advance(tab)> settings> advance> change> click custom size> min allowed (I set my to 500mb)> max allowed ( I set my up above what is recommended by the computer 7000mb, this is on the bottom of window)> restart computer.

You see may not have enough virtual memory ! not be confused with RAM.

If it happens again

second
click on start> start search type in cmd> press enter>this opens the administrator C:\Window\system32\cmd.exe window>
(This window could be black) and immediately after C:\Users\Users>
  1. Type ipconfig /release, and then press ENTER.
  2. Type ipconfig /renew, and then press ENTER

To verify that address conflicts have been resolved:

click Start>  in Start Search type cmd>  press ENTER.

To verify a DHCP client lease, type ipconfig /all to view lease-status information.

The output of the ipconfig command should show an IPv4 or IPv6 address marked "preferred.

you see the computer "thinks" it's on a network and is trying to contact "administrator" when this doesn't happen it freezes.

hope this helps because it fixed my computer- well it hasn't froze (hard-lock) since.

I turned network discovery off in our advance network settings. This seems to have corrected our issue [so far] with windows live mail hanging and event 1002 in the eventviewer.
