Error 2738

I have been recieving the error 2738 "could not access VB Script Runtime for custom action" when I try to instal a program new or update. The program support teams say that it is not their doing but a Windows system problem. Thank to anyone who can assist. Program VZ access Manager by Verizon Wireless

a. Which program are you trying to install?

b. Do you get this error with a particular program or will all programs?

Step 1:
Try registering the VBScript file again and check if you are able to install the program again.

To do that, follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.

2. Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.

3. At the command prompt type the following command and press enter:

regsvr32 vbscript.dll

4.  A message should appear stating "DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll succeeded."

5. Click OK and try installing the application again.

Step 2:

You may also put the computer in a Clean Boot and check for the issue. Below are the steps to put the computer in a Clean Boot State:

To perform a Clean Boot on a computer that is running Windows 7:

1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

 If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.

3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.

4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.

5. Click OK.

6. When you are prompted, click Restart.

7. After the computer starts, check if you are able to install the program.
