Component comdlg32.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

Original title: Run-time error 339

I keep receiving run-time error 339 when I try to open a program that has been installed on my laptop. The error states that "Component comdlg32.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." The program previously worked so I am unsure what has happened. Please tell me what I can do to rectify this. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi clu3m3out,

Could you provide the name of the program which upon running gives a run-time error?

Aruntime error is a software or hardware problem that prevents a program from working correctly. Runtime errors might cause you to lose information in the file you're working on, cause errors in the file (corrupt the file) so you can't work with it, or prevent you from using a feature.

As of now , I would suggest you to try the steps mentioned below.

Method 1: Re-register comdlg32.ocx file from an elevated command prompt

a.    Click on Start; in the start search type cmd.

b.    Right click on cmd.exe and choose to “Run as administrator”.

c.    Type the following command and hit Enter after each one:

regsvr32 /u Comdlg32.ocx
regsvr32 /i Comdlg32.ocx

d.    Close the command prompt and then try to run the program.

Method 2: What is a runtime error?

Hope this information is helpful and let me know if you need any further assistance.
