Dear all, I am in desperate need for advice on this. I am unable to find any solutions yet.
My MSN messenger was working fine, until I upgraded to Windows 7 recently. It keeps displaying error code 81000306. I have done the following tests and adjustments but still unable to connect:
(1) Test and Repair the connection using the msn troubleshoot tool
(2) Test for HTPP and TCP connection in the advanced options and it passed.
(3) No settings in the SOCK
(4) No problem in surfing the internet
(5) Check the windows firewall and AntiVir allows for access (full access actually)
(6) I am the administrator
(7) Cleared the information under the generic credential manager function
(8) Change security settings in IE as advised in MSN website
(9) Can use online chats (live.com and ebuddy) without problems
I do notice that under the connection tab, it reports that "You are currently not connected to .NET messenger service."and ""You are connected to the internet through a wired network connection."
Can someone please help me? Really giving up already. Thanks in advance.

You may try the steps as below and check if the issue gets fixed.
Now try to update the drivers for your router and check for the issue
In order to update the drivers for the router you need to contact your hardware manufacturer.
Note Windows 7 "auto-tuning" networking feature doesn't play nice with some routers. Not sure if it is a bug in
Windows 7, a bug in Messenger or a bug in the router firmware but anyway this
looks like a possible workaround that might help other people who have the
same problem.
Try this to disable autotuning:
1. Click start, All Programs
2. Accesories
3. Right-click Command Prompt
4. Click Run As Administrator
5. Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
6. Press enter
7. Restart your computer
Also follow these below provided commands.
This is the command to view the autotuninglevel
netsh int tcp show global
This is the command to disable it. disabled: Fix the receive window at its default value.
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
This is the command to return it to the default normal setting. normal: Allow the receive window to grow to accomodate almost all scenarios.
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
This is the command to set it to restricted which is what I ended up using, so I get some benefit from autotuning. restricted: Allow the receive window to grow beyond its default value, but limit such growth in some scenarios.
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=restricted
