Hi romjr,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers.

When do you come across this error in windows media player? Are you trying to sync with any device using windows media player?

I would suggest you to check if you are getting any exclamation (!) or cross marks with the devices listed in device manager –

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click System and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.

Note If Control Panel is in Classic View, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

  1. Now you may expand the options for all devices one at a time. The issues may be related to audio, video or sound drivers. If you view any marks then on right clicking the devices you will get the options to install/uninstall or update the device drivers.
You may also check with the manufacturer of the device or system for updating the drivers.

Hope this helps. Let us know the results.
Thanks,
