"Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine." Really? Why now after 1 1/2 years?

Yesterday a notice appeared on the lower right corner of my desktop (black screen) saying "Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not genuine." The computer is a Dell XPS1702x that I purchased on 8/29/2011 and has never had a problem before. I have both the disks for Windows 7 Ultimate and Office 2010 Professional Plus that are installed on the system. I have read the other threads and will post the results of the MGA diagnostic. The computer appears to be working normally, other than the appearance of the desktop. Thanks.

ignore the error message. the report will still copy and paste.

Most Activation and Validation issues look the same, on the surface, but can have many different causes and fixes. This is why we ask for a diagnostic report and this is also why we ask that you create your own thread for your issue (in other words, don't post your issue in another person's thread).

It just becomes too complicated to try to troubleshoot multiple different issues in the same thread.

how to post in your own thread
