What file system format is used in Windows 7? NTFS, WinFS or some other new format?

I am looking to upgrade my laptop and need to clone my current disk (WinXP) to a new partition on a larger disk. I want to install Win7 on a new partition on this new larger disk. I will transfer files and programs manually but want to make sure there is no problem formatting the Win7 partition on the new disk whilst retaining the WinXP partition in possibly a different file system format.

Windows 7 uses NTFS, mind an updated version, but its still NTFS. When you create the partition and select to install on it, the installation will automatically initialize and prepare the partition for the OS.
