SCSI/RAID Host Controller error stopping windows 7 upgrade

I am having an issue while trying to upgrade to windows 7 and i get this error...

Upgrading Windows will affect the following devices and/or programs:
These devices might not work properly after the upgrade. Before upgrading, we recommend updating the drivers for these devices. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel and search for "update device drivers", or go to the device manufacturer's website to search for updated drivers.
  •
    • Storage controllers: SCSI/RAID Host Controller
When i try and update the drivers it says

"Windows could not find any driver software for your device.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for the driver software"

The catch is that when i go into the driver properties i get this...

Driver Provider: Unknown
Driver Date:      Not Available
Driver Version:  Not Available
Driver Signer:   Not digitally signed

The device status says its working properly though...

I am not sure if i can just uninstall it to complete the installation (not even sure if i use it since there are not drivers installed)

Any ideas?

Hello Justin,

Thank you for posting.  Is this an OEM or a home built machine?  Are you running a RAID array or SCSI devices?  Is your HDD a SATA drive?  If your HDD is a SATA drive it can sometimes be seen by Windows as a RAID or SCSI device.  You would not need windows drivers for the device because it is set up in BIOS and as long as it is partitioned correctly Windows uses it without issues.  We are going to need more information about your hardware to be able to answer question.

Thanks,

Jack
