How do I install 64-bit Windows 7 over 32-bit Windows 7

I made a rather unfortunate mistake.  I installed Windows 7 32-bit instead of Windows 7 64-bit over my install of Vista on a Gateway GM5626 (which has an Intel E2180 CPU).  Regardless of whether I now boot the 64-bit DVD directly or boot up under the now-installed 32-bit Windows 7 and then try to run setup manually.  Any suggestions?

you will have to do a clean installation, there is no in place upgrade path from Windows 7 32 to 64 bit.

What I would do is, in Windows 7 32 bit, create a backup of your persona files and settings using Windows Easy Transfer. Do a clean install by booting off the Windows 7 64 bit DVD, launch Windows Easy Transfer and restore your Windows Easy Transfer file from the location you backed it up and reinstall any applications necessary.
