Error Code 0x080070005 after Windows 7 reinstall

I bought Windows 7 on July 10th, installed it and activated. On Sunday my Avid Audio software installer froze everything causing me to reinstall Windows 7 but when I tried to activate it I received and error : A problem occurred when Windows tried to Activate. Error Code 0x0070005. For a possible solution, click More Information. 

Code:0x0070005

Description: Access Denied.

I tried to activate by phone but the "Activation Support" gave me another phone number.  I finally got a human on the phone who gave me a new number 1-800-642-7676 that referred me back to 1-866-740-1256.

I then ended up on a phone service loop from 1-800-936-5700 to 1-800-642-7676 to 1-866-740-1256.

I tried various incarnations of slmgr.vbs and messing with my security settings and I'm stuck.  

It is a little frustrating when the only options thus far include "not my dept." and "I'll transfer you to the next 1-800 automated number"

Try using the Validation Diagnostic tool

Attempt to Validate - if it fails (which in theory, it shouldn't) you should get a link to the Diagnostic tool, which may give pointers to how to proceed.

Also - download the MGADiag tool http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 run it, and paste teh report in your reply.
