Hi,
If you are utilizing a genuine copy of windows 7 with service pack 1, you are eligible to upgrade to windows 10.
So your windows 10 will activate through the windows 7 license which you are utilizing now and it remain as a genuine windows license.

How does one tell if they are utilizing a genuine copy of Windows 7?
The forum is peppered nearly every day with folks that upgrade to Windows 10 and suddenly discover they may not have a genuine copy of Windows.
It is also peppered nearly daily with folks that upgrade to Windows 10 and revert back to Windows 7 and suddenly discover they do not have a genuine copy of Windows.
Before starting the upgrade they believe their Windows 7 is genuine because they may have been running it for years without an issue then when they upgrade to Windows 10 (or revert back to Windows 7) they find they have an authentication problem - their copy of Windows is not genuine.
What seems to happen most often is systems that do not come from the factory with Windows installed (Dell, HP, etc.) wherever they got their system (bought it, built it, had it built) there is a mismatch of motherboard and Windows license usually OEM licenses for one motherboard manufacturer installed on the wrong motherboard.
It could run fine for years, then suddenly it doesn't and they get the unpleasant surprise news that what they thought was genuine before they started is not genuine at all and now they have to find someplace to buy a legal copy of Windows 7 (good luck).
So if you are going to say 'If you are utilizing a genuine copy of windows 7 with service pack 1' it would be helpful if you also include instructions on how to figure that out.

Please send your product key or the product ID (you can find in the system) to the local Microsoft help desk and request to check the validity. Then you will be able to check whether the license is genuine or not.

In the system you can find only the product ID on the bottom.
under windows activation.
ex -
if you are utilizing windows 7 or earlier version (pre installed) there should be a sticker with product key on your device.

I see now.
How do I send that to my local Microsoft help desk (where is that)?
Then they will be able to tell me if my Windows product ID matches my motherboard (that seems to be a popular authentication issue when upgrading to Windows 10).
