Sharing programs between windows xp and windows 7

Hey recently my brother has downloaded windows 7 and dual booted. I am waiting for some computer replacement parts before creating a dual boot between xp and windows 7. However my brother has encountered a problem... he can't make shortcuts for applications between the os. I did some research and read in this forum that its impossible to share applications. :(

So here is my question: Is there a program that creates special shortcuts for xp without downloading the program twice or will I have to manually go through My Computer to launch the program. Thanks! I will be watching this thread closely for awhile.

You will have to install the program in both versions of Windows. You cannot install in one version and run it while booted into the other.
