Print spooler keeps stopping

I have several desktops on our network that have a problem with the PRINT SPOOLER services which keeps stopping, with the Event ID 1000 Application Error:

Faulting application name: spoolsv.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17777, time stamp: 0x4f35fc1d
Faulting module name: hpb6sy2917_x64gui.dll, version: 13.2.0.0, time stamp: 0x5553b101
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00000000000c312a
Faulting process id: 0x20b0
Faulting application start time: 0x01d0d5c451fdcb64
Faulting application path: C:\Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\hpb6sy2917_x64gui.dll
Report Id: 937f14d5-41b7-11e5-86a9-8056f2fe3d1b

I have tried deleting the offending file, but it 'magically' reappears when the print spooler is restarted. And a few seconds later, this file will crash again and the spooler stops. How do I get out of this loop?

We only have networked HP LaserJet printers and the print servers are Serve 2008 R2 machines. No local printers. All printers and desktops have been working fine with this config for some months.

Answer

Quick note of thanks to Gerry for spending some time on this.

I have found a Microsoft Fixit which wipes all printers, settings and drivers and it has removed the troublesome drivers which were crashing my spooler service.

http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2012/02/24/microsoft-fixit-for-printing.aspx

I chose to use the FULL MODE Fixit tool.

If I found out which printer that file was for, I'll update this post. My case is resolved now.
