Silverlight Update won't stay hidden

I have told Windows update about 100 times now to hide the Silverlight installation. I do not need or want this software on my system. Not missing out on anything without it being installed.

Every time I go to windows update it is back in the list how do I get rid of this annoying notification?

This is classic Microsoft.  My advice:  It is an optional update.  Ignore it.

Want is happening is that these are different updates. Notice each time you hide it, the next one has a different number. The silverlight updates are cumulative so when you hide one, it show the previous one. I'm not sure how many there are (12-15 maybe?), but once you have them all hidden, it will come up with "no updates available".

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you...

Figured you deserved a thank you for each occurrence of 'defeat' for that wretched and annoying update.

Strewth I thought I was going round the bend. Had tried Windows Update Component resets (inc registry edits) and 'Fix-it' tools for this - all to no avail until stumbling across your post.

Thanks again.
