Question

Q: Can't update Windows 7! (Win7 64bit)

I keep having a notification pop-up saying that Windows Updates are Available.  When I click either notification, the update icon, or go to Start > All Programs > Windows Update nothing pop's up for me to download and install the updates.  I've tried multiple things such as restarting, killing the "explorer.exe" and restarting that process, starting in safe mode (with and without network), but everytime I click on Windows Update nothing happens or appears.

Does anyone else have any idea on what could be causing this, I was previously receiving updates perfectly fine.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Hi wrigley3021,

Do you get any specific error message?

Follow the steps and check

Step 1 :

Try temporarily disabling your antivirus and see if you are then able to get the updates to download.

Note : enable all security softwares once the issue is resolved.

If it works, see if the maker has an update for your software that addresses this issue.

Step 2 :

Reset Windows Updates Components by running the fixit tool and check if that helps resolve the issue.
Follow the link for that which has a fixit : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058
