windows media center and silicondust

I just installed a Silicondust HomeRun Pirme - I can see all channel in the quickTV app (without Audio) but when I try to install in WMC I get and error message

i run thru digital cable adivisor and it is successful - the I go the Tasks>Settings>TV>Set up TV Signal +++ it come back immediately with

"TV Setup Cannot Continue

Tv Setup has encountered a seriou problme.  Select Finish to exit, then try again.  if this problem persists, restart Windows Media Center or the

computer "

I have tried both and continually get the same error.

I have tired some of the suggestions to reinstall WMC and they have failed as well.  Below are three methods listed on website

Method 1 - No solution found

Method 2 - There is no TV tuner card so could not uninstall drivers

method 3 - No change after reload

Method 1:
You may try using the Set up TV tuner troubleshooter to automatically find and fix some common problems -

1. Open the Set up TV tuner troubleshooter by clicking the Start button, and then clickingControl Panel.
2. In the search box, type
troubleshooter, and then clickTroubleshooting
.
3. In the left pane, click
View all, and then clickset up TV tuner.

Method 2:
You may try to uninstall the TV tuner card and restart the computer to let it install the default drivers and check if that helps. Follow the below steps to uninstall the TV Tuner -

1. Click on Start menu, type in devmgmt.msc to open the Device Manager.
2. The Device Manager will then display a list of installed devices in the right pane of the console.
3. Expand the category for TV Tuner.
4. Right-click the device and select properties. Now under the driver tab click on uninstall.
5. A dialog box will pop up asking you to confirm ‘Uninstall’. Click OK to proceed.
6. Re-start the computer and let it install the default drivers for the TV tuner card.

In addition to the driver uninstall you may uninstall any WinTV software as well. As there might be conflict with any other software and media center software which may cause some issues.

Now check if you are able to setup the TV Tuner card with Windows Media Center.

Method 3:

You may try to use the below provided steps and check if this assists -

  1. Click Start, the type services.msc in the Run box to open the Services running in the system. This will open all the services.
  2. Now right click and stop the Windows Media Center Receiver service.
  3. Then rename the file and folder that makes the EPG database. You may find the folder at –
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mcepg2-0.db (and the folder named \mcepg2-0).
  4. Now reboot the computer and run the TV setup

Hi,

What is the error you get when the windows media center fails to install?

If you have a Digital Cable Tuner (or another type of digital tuner) but no digital cable service, you might be able to use an antenna to watch and record over-the-air high-definition television (HDTV) (sometimes referred to as ATSC), standard TV, and digital cable channels that are not encrypted (such as "clear QAM" channels).

Some premium digital cable channels might contain protected content that can't be recorded.

Hope this helps.
