windows detected a hard disk problem

My friend have just install a windows 7 in his toshiba laptop and he  is continiously getting this error X Winodws detected a hard disk problem
Back up your files imm to prevent loss, and then contact the comp manufacture to determine if u have to repair or replace the disk.

which disk is failing ?
the following hard disk are resporting failure:
disk name WDCWD2500BEVS-26vato ATA device 
colume c:\

BUT  the hardisk is working good and the operating syste runs very smooth.

If you are seeing that error it's very likely the disk is failing even though it appears to be working OK. The disk itself and Windows both try to detect and automatically repair errors. If Windows is seeing errors it means the disk can no longer repair them. There are other reasons why this error may show up but you should test the disk ASAP. You should also make sure that any important data on the disk is backed up.  The laptop may have come with a program to test the hardware. If not try this program.
