Windows 7 will not boot. Error Code = 0x490

Original title: Windows 7 will not boot.

Windows 7 wont boot on my laptop anymore.  Ran startup repair from my recovery disk.  The report said - Root cause found No OS files found on disk.  Repair Action: Partition Table Error.  Result :  Failed. Error Code = 0x490.  Does this mean I need to get a Windows 7 disk and re-install it or is there more to do?

Since the last message I sent, my wife had taken my laptop to someone she trusted at her workplace to have a look at it.  He said there was "something" blocking the startup of Windows.  She is not quite sure what it was and unfortunately I did not speak to him directly.  Interestingly enough, the problem with Adobe is resolved.  Perhaps it was some sort of virus that is now fixed.  Everything else is as it was before the incident.

I wish I could give you more info.  But thank you for your assistance up until this point.  Your experience saves people like me $'s in fees to people looking to profit on other people's misfortune.

If I find out what it was that caused the problem I will post it.

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
