Windows 7 BSOD : ETD.sys on Samsung 535UC

Hi, I'm a newbie here and have no basic about programming nor specific terms often used to explain what is going.

I had a Samsung 535 UC laptop with Windows 7-64 bit Home Premium edition and encountered BSOD problems and decide to reinstall the Windows but the problems doesn't solved.

Heres the minidump file:

http://sdrv.ms/WYWrM3

The BSOD says:

STOP: 0x00000001 (0xFFFFFA84050D9660, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF88003A7CDF9)

ETD.sys - Address FFFFF88003A7CDF9 base at FFFFF88003A77000, Datestamp 4f59e3be

I found that the ETD.sys is my touchpad input driver.

When I'm running my Windows in safe mode, it does not BSOD at all. But it's annoying because I want it to run in Normal mode!

Please help me solve this and Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for reaching us out on Microsoft Community Forums.

It appears that you are getting a stop code:  0x00000001 with a blue screen error. Let's analyze and identify the cause of the issue.

1. Do you have an external USB mouse to work with?

2. Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

Blue Screen errors may be caused by either a software problem or a hardware problem.

You may also unplug any external devices, if any and check if the issue gets resolved.

Method 1:

Place the computer in clean boot from Safe mode and check for the issue.

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Once you are done with clean boot, please follow the section ‘How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot’ under ‘more information’ in the article to put your computer back to normal startup.

Method 2:

If the issue still persists, perform an SFC scan on your computer. Refer to the following link:

How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

You can upload your minidump files to Skydrive. Refer the link below to do the same:

Use SkyDrive to upload collected files and post screen shot/picture

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm still trying to do the procedure above. It takes long time to do it.

I would like to inform that I made a mistake on BSOD error code writing.

It should be 0x000000D1 instead of 0x00000001

New information from my issue:

When I open msconfig window, I can't do a click for exit or check the box (but I can still move the cursor). A moment later the BSOD will appear.

These were literally all Related to ETD.sys ETD Ware TSR Enhancements from ELANTECH Devices Corp.

The reason it doesnt crash in safe mode is because it isnt loaded in safe mode.  I would re-install newest driver available form the developer.

Yes, that's right!

I just recognized it before I read your reply.

Now I'm downloading the new driver.
