An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data. Status: 0xc0000001

I'm getting this message upon start up. Tapping F8 to access safe mode will not work. I've tried pressing F12 and booting from the CD drive to try repair from the windows recovery CD, but after it says "Windows is loading files" a black screen comes up and stays idle. I left it for over an hour and still the blank black screen.

Before proceeding with the troubleshooting steps, I’d suggest you disconnect all the external peripherals like printer, etc.

 

The error message usually indicates that the boot sector is damaged or missing.
