audiodg.exe uses extreme amounts of memory and is leaking memory

I have noticed in my Win7 release that the audiodg.exe problem since the Vista days as posted here http://blogs.msdn.com/larryosterman/archive/2007/01/31/what-is-audiodg-exe.aspx have not been solved as far as audiodg.exe is concerned. I am exceeding over 980mb after a few hours of computer work on my system and the CPU (3 cores) gets POUNDED by this process eventually. Once I kill the audiodg.exe in task manager my system becomes very snappy and fast like it should be. However I loose all sound.

I have a Creative Labs X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card with latest Windows 7 drivers.

Why has this file and its inability to release the memory it takes not have been addressed for Windows 7? 980mb allocation on a 4GB system for this driver file is ridiculous! I don't care how many bells and whistles your sound card uses this is an astronomical amount of memory it consumes and refuses to release back to the system.

Alt-tabbing between apps once this process is killed becomes like night and day responsive on my system.

PLEASE FIX THIS FILE!!!

Tried that hotfix, but my system is still leaking memory!  Maybe not quite as fast, but fast enough.

Is this truly a problem solely of the OS?  Creative Labs keeps telling me this, saying it has absolutely nothing to do with their drivers.

That's not entirely true. The 2 Creative services that run in the Service Control Panel that regulate the Dolby sound do make the audiodg.exe bleed more memory then normal and exaserbate the problem. If you do not use Dolby sound you can turn off these 2 services and it will quiet down the memory leakage from the audiodg, exe file when its in use.

I don't buy preconfigured PC's as they never are good imo. I have a Gigabyte mobo, 4GB Corsair memory (Dominator), Sapphire Radeon ATI 3870 graphics card, Coolermaster HAF 932 case, AMD 720 Phenom II CPU and Creative XFi XtremeGamer sound card w/Windows 7 drivers. All drivers are always current for everything. No overclocking done (yet). Windows 7 Pro release version too.

I will take a look at that link but imo there is a serious issue with the code of the audiodg.exe process since the Vista days that has not been rectified yet. Some things ppl on blogs report is:

1) Extremely sluggish system response when alt-tabbing between applications due to audiodg.exe process. (I have noticed this myself).
2) Recording sound causes gaps in the sound file created in the same 11ms period it takes audiodg.exe to dump its working threads. (I have not verified this myself as I do not record sound but this gentleman here can attest to this fact here .)
3) Extremely exorbitant memory use and memory leaks of the audiodg.exe. (I have noticed this myself and verified it with almost 1GB of memory use on the audiodg.exe file)

I think your above link may be a good solution for this memory usage problem thank you (Except if your Creative card uses Dolby Digital Live of course) for finding it but the other problems (1 and 2) may still need to be addressed for those individuals who have noticed them on this forum and others. I wll contact creative labs and pin them down on this services misuse or memory resources asap!

The linked solution will not work if you use Ventrilo (which I do use a lot) so I will also contact Creative as to what may be issue with their services and how they interact with the audiodg.exe subsystem file.
