Stay logged into windows instead of returning to user screen.

I had this option set up in Vista, but cannot seem to locate how to do this in Windows 7.  I am running Win 7 Pro (32-bit) if this is helpful.  My situation is that since only myself uses this laptop, why must windows kick me out and return me to the user selection screen every time it idles or shuts down?  I remember there being an optional "Check box" in Vista.  Is there a way my user account can stay logged into Win 7 instead of kicking me back to the user selection screen?  Thank you for you time and help.

I believe is wake up from sleep, this disable this search "Power" from start menu.

Then go to "Power Options" under "Control Pannel", you will then present a screen with power plan.

There is a option called "Require a password on wakeup" at the left hand nevigation pannel.

Follow the prompt on the screen to disable it.

It is not recommened since your computer's data is accessable to theif directly if your computer is stolen.
