How To Get TPM Password?

I have Bitlocker turned on for many laptops at work and for most the laptops after the set up I was able to save the bitlocker recovery key and also the TPM password to a thumb drive in a text file. On most of the laptops I noticed that in the text file it shows the bitlocker full recovery key and the tpm password, but for some reason one of the text files for a laptop has the bitlocker full recovery key but not the TPM password, like the other text files.

I checked the tpm console and it shows that tpm is on and working. Also bit locker is working. I just want to have on file somewhere the tpm password incase i need it. Is there a way i can get the tpm password without having to reset or clear the current password?

Answer

Hi,

Follow the steps given below to save the TPM password.

a.      If you are not continuing immediately from the last procedure, start the TPM Initialization Wizard. If you need to review the steps to do so, see "To start the TPM Initialization Wizard" earlier in this topic.

b.      In the Create the TPM owner password dialog box, click Automatically create the password (recommended).

c.       In the Save your TPM owner password dialog box, click Save the password.

d.      In the Save As dialog box, select a location to save the password, and then click Save. The password file is saved as computer_name.tpm.

I would suggest you to view the following links to change the TPM password.
