windows media center live tv has stopped working no idea why have tried various fixes described on internet none work some suggest audio settings?????

Hi,

1.    What happens when you play live TV on Windows Media Center, do you receive any error message?

2.    Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

3.    What troubleshooting steps have you tried to fix the issue?

Follow the methods provided below, if you have not tried these steps earlier.

Method 1: Let’s run the TV tuner troubleshooter and check if that helps. Refer the following link to run the troubleshooter.

‘Open the Set up TV tuner troubleshooter’

Method 2: If the issue persists then, uninstall and reinstall the TV tuner drivers.

Here are the steps to uninstall the TV tuner card from Device Manager:

a)    Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.

b)    If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

c)    On the Device Manager window, expand sound, video and game controllers look for the TV tuner card.

d)    Right-click on the device and select Uninstall.

e)    Re-install the latest TV tuner drivers from the Manufacturer’s website.

No good Tv tuner all ok drivers fine works ok as well in touchsmart.

just get message saying files not working or missing but I know they are not missing and work fine when tv tuner is opened in touchsmart.

the issue is with Media center only when live TV is opened it just comes up with the error message that the files needed to display video are not installed correctly or are not working please restart computer. I have trawled the internet and tried various fixes none appear to work.

There is a suggestion that the error message is very ambiguous and the problem can be in audio settings.

So what should all the audio settings be.?????

I appear to be NOT the only person with this problem and it seems to be an on going problem with windows seven. Therefore I am surprised that microsft has not addressed the problem in an update and made the error messaging more precise and cured this very annoying problem. After sales service counts for a lot of future sales. This is an issue that needs fixing for customers that have windows seven not brushing under the carpet until the next version arrives and expecting people to buy it.

To be honest after trawling round the internet I am appalled at Microsofts responses I want this fixed asap please.

No good already tried all this twice now its a fault with the software appears to have started when analogue signal switched off by ITV or upgrade of touchsmart software any thoughts on this ?

The other possibilities I have seen mentioned is audio can cause this  have asked for standard  audio settings but no response computer is a Hp touchsmart 600.

I have tried reseting audio back to default but to no avail. The Tv works for every thing but LIve TV.

It does work when in touchsmart you can get live TV then but not when you try to access live TV in Windows media.

Is there a clash of some kind is it trying to use the old now defunct analogue tuner is it a software issue is the message correct or a complete red herring . It would be nice to see microsoft actually deal with this properly.
