Hi,

We need more information to assist you with your computer’s issue, please answer the followings.

If you are referring to issue with Windows Media player of Windows 7, you can turn on and turn off the Windows Media Player from Turn Windows features on or off.

a) Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Programs, and then click Turn Windows features on or off. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

b) To turn a Windows feature on, select and expand Media Features, select the check box next to the Windows Media player. To turn a Windows feature off, clear the check box. Click OK.

Later turn it on and check if the issue is resolved.

Hi,
I started getting Windows media player server error. Have uninstalled and re-installed WMP and followed various other steps found here and elsewhere all with no luck. I can't reinstall Windows 7 as despite my new HP laptop having a 20Gb recovery drive (which I naively thought would allow me to restore) I can only in fact "restore" to Windows 8 which I have less than zero interest in using.
Also have a problem with Internet Explorer not running Flash Player so have installed WinAmp and Firefox which are both working fine.
Liked WMP interface though so if you have any suggestions as far as I can work out below from the Event log is what is going on

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

Check the issue status in a new user account.

Create a user account:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/Create-a-user-account

If it works in a new user account then you need to fix the corrupt user profile. You may visit this link for the steps:
