Protect Yourself From Tech Support Scams
Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary
technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a
Microsoft Agent or
Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an
official
Microsoft global customer service number.
Volume Mixer does not retain settings for individual applications.
Original Title: <Sound settings aren't saving on application close>
After the latest patch Tuesday, I've noticed that sound settings aren't saving the way they used to. Before, when I adjusted an individual sound for an application, and then closed the application, the sound was set to the same level when I restarted
the application. That is no longer happening. Is there something I'm missing that I need to fix to get the sound settings to stick?
Previously, when I set the sound level for an application, it stayed after I quit the application, and restarted it. Even through reboots.
But now, if I set a application's sound level to, say, 10, and later quit the application, when I restart it, it's back up at 100.
Then if the problem isn’t present, then install the updates from Windows Update one at a time to try to identify which is causing this problem to occur.
