i have an hp with win 7 and realtek audio. i only get sound through one chanel whether in 2.1, 4, 5.1 or 7.1. when i  test the sound i see the level indicator show that sound is indicated and no sound comes out. this is true for all rear jacks for all configurations for all speakers.  however when i plug in the headphones using the front jack i can hear both channels and all outputs are poperly mapped to the headphones

Hi Don,

·        Since when have you had this issue?

·        Have you installed the latest audio (sound) drivers for Windows 7?

This could be a driver related issue or probably the speakers’ aren’t connected properly.

First, I would suggest you to visit the manufacturer’s website and download and install the latest audio drivers and check if that fixes the issue.

Refer the following Microsoft articles for more information on updating drivers:

Additionally, you may refer the following Microsoft Help and How-to article that contain solutions to some common sound problems on your computer. These solutions can also help if you don't hear any sound coming from your speakers or headphones, or if there's a problem with the sound you do hear.
