Question

Q: Can't Update Windows Media Player DRM This thread is locked from future replies

I have been used Ingram Media (similar to Overdrive Media Console) in the past to listen to audiobooks I've downloaded through my library.  I've suddenly run into problems whereby Ingram tells me the License storage is not working and to contact Windows.

I am now trying to reset my DRM and am having problems.  I've renamed the DRM file to DRMbackup as suggested in another post (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7files/thread/dbe7f17f-ece0-4067-a9cf-36c015d7ab1f).  When I go to http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp?force=1 and click Upgrade to install, I get an error: "The component could not be upgraded."  Any thoughts on how I can fix?

A:

Hi,

Let’s try these:

a. Try downloading DRM reset file from the below link and save it on the desktop.
http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=105000.
b. Now right-click on the .exe file and select Run as administrator.
c. Now try upgrading security component.
