Canon Vixia HV40 HD camcorder not recognized on IEEE1394

Windows 7 does not recognize HD camcorder on IEEE1394 (Camcorder = Canon Vixia HV40. It is Windows 7 compatible)

Camcorder = Canon Vixia HV40. It is Windows 7 compatible as per Canon website -http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=177&modelid=17996

IEEE1394 card was not recognized at first by Windows 7, so reverted to "legacy" driver, then card was regognized

But the camcorder is not recognized

Camcorder is recognized well on another PC running Windows XP with *same* IEEE1394 card pulled out and installed on that XP computer)

Windows 7 home edition

The same camcorder is also not recognized when connected to Windows 7 via a USB port
