Windows Media Player: error when trying to play DVD-Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card

I am trying to play a dvd I insert the dvd and get this message.  "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card."

I do not want to copy this dvd I just want to watch it.  What can I do?

Did you try updating your video driver?

(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System
Restore point before installing software or updates)

Also...the freeware VLC Media Player might be worth a try:

VLC Media Player
http://www.videolan.org/

And it may be worth a try to install the following codec pack.

K-Lite Codec Pack (Full)

Good luck...
