Windows Explorer Crash - Fault Module Name: StackHash_0a9e


Im hoping someone can help for the last few weeks i've been getting Windows Expolrer crashes. Only when i have it open it happens at least twice a day.

I have tried numerous things like:

  • Used ShellExView to disable 3rd party apps
  • sfc /scannow
  • Ran Antivirus nothing bad found
  • Run Chkdsk 
Going to Control Panel -> Action Center -> Problem Details

As the dump referenced the fundisc.dll and the other dump referenced the NetworkItemFactory.dll it does appear you experienced the same issue as reported in that link so hopefully KB2494427 solves the issue.


Post back if any more crashes.


To follow up on the added registry key, you can delete the C:\CrashDumps folder anytime.


You can leave the added registry key intact as it may come in handy if another explorer crash occurs.


However you can delete it anytime if you wish.


You can run the following .reg file to delete:


Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\explorer.exe]
