I have a Canon MP780 printer. After Windows 7 (x64) goes to sleep and wakes up, I can not print. The job remains in the Queue...but the printer just sits there. The Canon does go into energy saving mode, but waking it up manually doesn't do anything either.
The job remains in the Q. Attempting to reprint it does not work either. I have the latest drivers.
I will answer my own question. The solution that worked for me was to remove the Canon driver and use the windows update method. For whatever reason downloading the Canon driver and installing that way doesn't work (and research shows that others have had
the same difficulty).
So...remove the printer. Then use windows update to download new drivers. Then plug in the printer once again and select it from the list of windows update supplied drivers. The printer, fax, and scan functions now work properly.
