Recycle bin error ""The recycle bin on C:\ drive is corrupted. do you want to empty the Recycle bin for this drive."

Original Title: Recycle bin corrupt recurrence

Even after using the rename and delete fix for this error I keep getting reccurances of;

"The recycle bin on C:\ drive is corrupted. do you want to empty the Recycle bin for this drive."

It seems to be ok for a while until I delete some files then next time I start the machine the error comes back.

How can I fix it for good?

Thank You

Hi,

1.       Which fix-it are you referring to?

2.       Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

Method 1: Try the following steps:

IMPORTANT: The following procedure permanently deletes all files and folders which are already in the Recycle Bin (from all user accounts in the system) and cannot be recovered.

a.       Open an elevated Command Prompt window.

To open an elevated Command Prompt, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

b. Type the following command and press ENTER:

rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin

(This clears out the $Recycle.bin folder for the C:\ drive.

You may have to do this for each hard disk partition in your system.)

c.       Type exit to close the Command Prompt window.

Method 2:  Run SFC Scan.

System File Checker (SFC) scan will replace corrupt or missing system files on your computer.
