Protect Yourself From Tech Support Scams
Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary
technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a
Microsoft Agent or
Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an
official
Microsoft global customer service number.
Every now and then, I find the processor running at 100% and Process Explorer tells me that taskhost is running RACtask and is using all available processor resources. The only solution I've found is to kill this and then processor usage goes back to normal.
Anyone got any ideas why this might be happening?
I tried adding the WMIEnable key as described above. It made no difference. I played around some more and finally found this link that describes how to reset the reliabilty monitor database:
