Hi,

Were there any changes made to the computer prior to the issue?

Please follow the methods.

Method 1:

Uninstall RegClean program from the control panel and check.

Refer to the link.

Uninstall or change a program

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Uninstall-or-change-a-program

Method 2:

Run the Microsoft fixit from the link.

Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/

Method 3:

I would suggest you to download and run the latest Microsoft Safety Scanner on your computer and check if it helps:

http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Method 4:

Let’s test the issue in safe mode.

Refer to the link.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If it works fine in safe mode, perform clean boot.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

NOTE: After troubleshooting, revert the computer to start as usual (Refer to “Step 7” from the link mentioned above)

Ive just had an email from RegClean Pro. How do they find peoples e-mail addresses?

Is what they are doing hacking?
AKA - Spyware. They may also be sending emails to everyone in your email address directory
if you use one.
When you sign up to sites which require your email they often share your information with other sites.
Also, sometimes people don't remember, or think about having entered their email address when they create an account.

Best option is to keep a 'private' email account, usually the one from your isp, and a generic account
such as hotmail for  your web site logins, etc.
I never get spam on my private account (that's with four different isp's over nine years).
I think it's at least partly because I uses an acronym.
My hotmail account, which uses an identifiable name followed by _1 started getting spam from day one.

Thanks mike,

I just tried a system restore before I got back online to find out how to delete the major headache regcleanpro has given me.  I will try one of those sites you seconded.

I am curious though - the restore did not work (to the time before systweak secretly installed their evil wares.  When I got to my start screen there they were -  looking like a fresh install.  And then quickly started "scanning my PC"

Anyways, thanks!  You too Palcouk!
