How to prevent sound driver from sleeping while music is playing

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on an all-in-one Sony Vaio VPCL117.
Power settings:
           TURN off display  10 min
           SLEEP                  30 min
When the computer is playing music (using either Windows Media Player or iTunes or any other musicplayer), and the display goes to sleep (after 10 minutes), the sound is also turned OFF, although the music player app is still playing.
How can I prevent the sound driver (Realtek High Definition Audio) in this case from 'going to sleep' without changing the 'TURN OFF THE DISPLAY" to NEVER?
BTW, this happens whether audio is coming from the built-in speakers or from the Audio Line-Out.
My only solution so far is to disable Power Settings and leave the display from being turned off.
I tried Sony's tech support but they had no clue other than disabling Power Management (turning all to NEVER).

Answer

my Power Savings advanced settings has the following:
Multimedia settings
  When sharing media
Plugged in: Prevent idling to sleep
  When playing video
        Plugged in: Optimize video quality

Changing these settings has no effect on the sound going to sleep when the display is put to sleep.
I believe this is a problem with this specific Sony Vaio L Series.  I tested the same on a Dell laptop which works just fine.

Hi

In an effort to save battery, as much as possible Many Laptops has propriety Power Saving system that over rides the OS.

Sony's support will be a good place to go.
