Just upgraded my computer.  The old one had windows XP.  New one has windows 7

AutoCAD 2002 has the following error after every few commands:

closes out the program

error handler re-entered exiting now

Are there any patches or remedies to stop this error?

Hello Troy,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community Forum.

AS per the description I understand you are getting “internal error: gedit3” while using AutoCAD LT 2002.

Which version of Windows 7 is installed on your computer?

Let’s try these methods to get this problem resolved.

Method 1:

There could be possibility of some background program conflicting with the program, let’s put the computer in clean boot and see if the issue persists.

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us

Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot" under more information to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting

Method 2:

If the above method does not solve the problem, most probably this could be the compatibility issue with Windows 7.

We can try to run the program in Compatibility mode and check.

Make older programs run in this version of Windows
