Hi,

I would suggest you to follow these steps and check if it helps.

Method 1:

To enable Windows search service, follow these steps:

a.     Click on start, go to control panel.

b.    Open administrative tools, right click on services and click on run as administrator.

c.     Scroll down for Windows search service, check if it is started.

d.    If no, then right click on the service and click on start.

Check if it helps.

Method 2:
After enabling the this service if you still face the same issue, then I Would suggest you to run this troubleshooter and check if it helps, here is the link:

Hi,
I enable Windows search service and my problem is gone. But what if it appear again?

Few months ago i solved the explorer issue by performing a clean boot. Than it was gone & may be 1 month later the problem appear again. So i update all recent file from Windows Updates related with performance issue and my problem gone again. But again 1 months later I face the same problem again & stop it by disabling search service.

Only Windows Game explorer made this problem when I open it. I think I need to do something with game explorer. Can you help?

Thanks.

I have a similar issue. I recently (few months ago) disabled the windows search feature. Now when I try to enable it i'm not able to do so. While configuring windows search at 88% it halts and gives an error "failure configuring windows search - reverting changes". Please advice.

(Please note that the windows troubleshooter does not have the "Search and Indexing" option listed in it)
