Greetings,
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium with a relatively new and fast PC. Until recently Windows 7 has been running welland then all of sudden an irritating thing began happening and that is that some of my program launching shortcuts on my PC desktop report an error message that looks like this:
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Open File - Security Warning
We can't verify who created this file. Are you sure you want to
open this file?
Name: ... s\Stan\Favorites\Desktop\ ....l
Type: Shortcut
From: C:\Users\Stan\Favorites\Desktop\...
[Open] [Cancel]
(Picture of shield w X thru it) This file is in a location outside your local network. Files from
locations you don't recognize can harm your PC. Only open this file
if you trust the location. What's the risk?

When I click [Open] on the message to continue the launch of the program, the program(s) launches without problems. By the way, only one of the programs immediately accesses the internet ... the usual suspect for the generation of warning messages ... and that's my browser program. As for the "local network", I have a small Ethernet LAN in my home which connects to two other PCs.
Can anyone offer me some suggestions about what may be causing this and how I can fix this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Stan
