Date and Time Changes Automatically When Turning On PC

There is a problem, that my pc resets its date and time automatically when stating it for the first time in a day.

When it is starting there is a blue window that appears for some seconds, which let me choose the last known good configuration and also a choice to enter into bios settings too.

Every time i have to make it updated using internet.

Also sometimes my CPU fan goes very fast and makes more noise than the usual, but it does get solved for that moment when i turn off the PC and then start it once again.

I have also read some articles regarding these problems. They say that, when this problem occurs we have to change the CMOS battery.

Is it correct ??

Is these two problems of my PC linked with each other ??

Please help regarding for the same ASAP.

Thanks.

Yep swap out the mother board battery would be a good start ;)

Fan acceleration is most likely dirt/ hair/ lint accumulation on the intake vents which is usually on the bottom and exhausts out the side or back.

A lot of mother board batteries on laptops are not all that easy to change out some are it depends on the model

Search it on youtube and you might get lucky :)

the fan noise is now reduced after some cleaning.

but there is a new problem.

i replaced the old CMOS battery with a new one, but after that it is getting trouble during the startup.

for the first time, just after replacing the battery, the startup stopped at starting windows logo.

then i pressed the restart button, then it went under startup repair which restored the system to a previous state, then the windows started.

and now at second place, it was once again stuck at starting windows logo, so i had to restart the windows twice more, then it ultimately started for the third time, but it is now has slowed down my system very much.

PLEASE HELP ME REGARDING THE STARTUP AND PC SLOW PROBLEM ASAP.

Thanks.

You may have a date that is out of range.  Go into the BIOS and reset the time there.

Some models of computer always start the fan on high speed.

You may also have a heat problem.

How old is your computer?

Make/model?

laptop or desktop?

Did you put the battery in with the printed side up?

If there is a heat problem, those shut downs may have corrupted the system.

One possibility:

There is a layer of thermal paste between the CPU and the heat synch which is screwed down on top of it.  Sometimes that dries out or was not properly applied to begin with.  That can cause over-heating in the CPU and that will shut down the computer.

Make certain your fans are all operating correctly and not blocked by dust.  Ensure that the heat synch on top of the CPU is not packed with dust.

It is actually an easy thing to fix.  Here's how.

http://www.canadiantech.info/for-techies/over-heated-shutdown/

Over-heated shutdown

If your computer is shutting itself down often, and possibly telling you it did it to protect the computer, it is quite possible the problem is caused by the thermal paste between your computer’s processor and the heat synch (dissipater) on top of it.

If your computer is a desktop type, the following could be the solution to your problem, particularly if it is in excess of 5 years old.  If it is a notebook computer, you will likely need the services of a competent technician to do this task.

My suspicion is that the thermal paste between the CPU and the heat synch was not applied correctly or has dried out.  CPUs produce a huge amount of heat.  That is why that heat synch is there with the fan on top.  I can tell you how to fix this.  It is not actually very difficult.  First, open the cover and check to see the fan on the case and the one over the CPU are working.

  1. Buy a small tube of thermal paste at the computer store.  Should  not be more than about $10
  2. Unplug the power cord.  Hold the on button in for at least 7 seconds. Remove the cover of the PC
  3. Using a long Phillips screw driver slowly loosen the 4 screws on the corners holding down the heat synch to the main board.  They are spring loaded.  Loosen the screws a few turns at a time on each corner and keep rotating till you remove them or at least you can tell they are loose.
  4. Remove the small plug from the fan to the main board — note where and how it fits
  5. Pick up the heat synch/fan assembly.  Examine the surfaces between the bottom of the synch and the top of the CPU.
  6. Using rubbing alcohol very, very sparingly and a small soft cloth patiently remove the paste that is on both surfaces.  Make sure the surfaces are now clean and dry.
  7. Place small dots of the paste on the 4 corners (not at the edge) of the underside of the heat synch.
  8. Press the heat synch in place (do not attach yet), pull it back off.  You should see an even coating of paste on both surfaces.  NO paste over flow.  If you see blank spots, apply more paste there.
  9. Test again
  10. Re-attach the heat synch and plug.

Power up, boot up.

But my PC does not have any sudden shut down issues or any heat issues, so i think that you miss-understood my problem.

I am just having startup issues, i.e. during windows starting up.

This very time i had a new problem regarding startup.

There was a ' disk read error : press ctrl+alt+del to restart ' .

I was unable to start my computer.

Then i searched the problem on internet using my mobile and performed ' bootrec ' ( i.e. RebuildBcd, fixMbr, fixboot )commands in cmd, which ultimately started my computer.

Couple of days back i formatted my computer using a 64-bit WIN7 PRO CD (earlier it was 32-bit WIN7 PRO).

Before formatting i didn't had any startup issues.

Is because of this, my PC is facing the problems or there is an another reason ??

Should i clean install the windows once again ??

I am really worried for my PC.

Please HELP me regarding the same.

Thanks.

How did you do that exactly

Switching to 64 bit would require a totally new install is that what you meant ?

You'd also have to redownload and install the new chipset drivers.......

You are describing it differently now.  Your hard drive could be in the process of failing.

Download and run your hard drive manufacturers drive testing software to find out.  Give me the model number of your hard drive (device manager) and I will give you a link to download and run the correct software.

Clock resetting is almost surely the result of a failing CMOS battery.

High speed fan almost always indicates over-heating.

Please provide the following:

  1. How old is this computer?
  2. Laptop/Desktop?
  3. make/model
  4. Hard drive capacity and how much is in use
  5. Memory installed
  6. Processor

I did a clean install.

I deleted my previous c drive...and then installed the win7 pro 64 bit in that unallocated space which became my c drive or system drive afterwards.

After installing i installed my intel driver update utility and installed updated 64 bit drivers formy graphics support.

After writing the above post..i also had a blue screen error, after till now i am still facing startup issues.  Once again disk read error.

I am replying now via my
