Corrupted system files cannot be repaired. SFC /scannow cannot repair

I have noticed that on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit installtion that autochk.exe was not running upon boot on my C: drive.

I checked my BOOTEXECUTE registry key and it looks as follows:

BootExecute REG_MULTI_SZ autocheck autochk /p\\??\C:autocheck autochk *

Autochk would not execute at boot time.

I then ran SFC /scannow It produced the following results from the CBS.log file:

Answer

Hi,

Firstly, I would suggest you to remove the Chkdsk.exe or the Autochk.exe program from Scheduled Tasks:

Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Scheduled Tasks.

Click either Chkdsk or Autochk in the list of scheduled tasks >> Under Folder Tasks >> click Delete this item.

Also make sure that, the Registry has the right entry as mentioned below:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager. In the right pane the value of BootExecute autocheck autochk *

Then schedule an autocheck and see if the issue persists.

How to back up and restore the registry?

Regards,
Chethan Kumar.
