Can I delete single files from Windows 7 Home Premium and reinstall that file or will I mess up the operating system?

I just scanned my system and received the following error report.: Program Files(86) QuickTime/QT Sys Corrupted Executable File , SKD type Core. Can this one file be uninstalled and then reinstalled from the Microsoft Web Site or will it mess up the entire operating system?

This is a Quick Time issue. Suggest you un-install and then re-install Quick Time and not just delete a single file.
