Hi Edward,

Have you made any recent hardware or software changes on the computer?

I would suggest you to boot the computer in safe mode and check for the issue. Here is the link which says how to do it.

Advanced startup options (including safe mode)

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

If the issue does not occur, then perform a clean boot to find out which application is causing the problem and then reinstall the application and check.

Clean boot: To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a "clean boot." A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

Note: Please go through the section: How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot of the Kb article to boot the computer in normal startup after fixing the issue

Do get back to us with the results of the issue. We would be happy to help you.
