backup error 0x800703F9

I recently bought a 1TB internal drive as a slave for Back-Up proposes only (since Windows has the cool BU feature).  I installed, initiated and formated the drive successfully as I can "see" it and read/write to it.  However when I run W7 backup to that drive I end up getting a failure code of 0x800703F9.  What's up with that?  I've checked the disk for errors and it's clean.

thanks for the reply.

I ran both steps as you suggested above, the latter being for both the C drive and the new B/U drive.

In step 2, I had checked both boxes. I am not sure if anything was fixed on C as when I got back into the room hours later, the PC had rebooted itself after the scan was complete.

Final result:  I tried running W7 back-up again and the same problem exists.  Failed to Back-up.  My B/U drive is still empty.

Any other suggestions?

Add on- this morning I see it failed again (b/u scheduled at 2 AM) BUT when I looked at the B/U drive I see it did send files there as follows:

Main Directory created: WindowsImageBackup

next level = 'my computer name'

next level as follows-

3 Directories Created + 1 file ~

1. Backup 2011-03-29-090007

inside this dir are 11 XML docs and 1 VHD File; one of the XML docs is nearly 4MB in size, the rest are very small.  The VHD file is 93.5GB

2. Catalog

inside this dir are two files: BackupGlobal Catalog and Global Catalog

3. SPP Metadata Cache

inside this dir are 7 small files

the last item is not a dir but a small file called MediaId

----------

Also, I have my BackUp settings as follows:

1. All Users (default windows folders and local files)

2. System Image (included)

So does anyone know why I am getting an error msg?

thank you
