All windows programmes (such as browsers Firefox, Chrome, Explorer) force the scroll bar to the bottom of the page and will not allow you to scroll back up. Even re-booting the machine several times does not immediatly resolve the problem.

Environment using Win 7 on a laptop (Acer), with USB mouse. When the mouse is not used (i.e. tracker pad is used) there seems to be a number of system freezes  . We did not get these problems prior to Windows 7 upgrade. The lap top is relatively new with 4GB RAM

Hi FeelGoodInc,

-       Which was the earlier operating system installed on your computer?

-       Did it ever work fine after upgrading to Windows 7 or did this issue start immediately after upgrading to Windows 7?

However, I would suggest you to download the latest drivers for touchpad from the laptop manufacturer’s website and install it and check if it helps.

Also you may access the link below and follow the steps to update the touchpad drivers on your computer and check if it helps you fix the scroll issue.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly

You may boot the computer in safe mode with networking and try to connect to internet and check if the scroll issue persists in safe mode and post back the result.

Also you may open event viewer and check if there are any other significant error messages/codes and post it.

Refer the link below for more details:

What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)?

Hope this helps. Let us know the status.

Thanks and Regards,
