I've built a system with windows7 Home Premium (64 bits) as the OS. The screen saver works fine and the screen is turned off at the specified time in the Power Manager; but, when it's supposed to enter in sleep mode it never does. I've already twicked
the Power Mager in every possible way, also updated the BIOS and the drivers for all the devices pluged in my system and the problem remains unsolved.
This feature is helpful to me since my PC uses a 700 W PSU and sleep mode is a feature that allows to save some power. I had a PC running windows XP before and never had a problem with sleep mode.

I would suggest you to unplug all the external devices apart from keyboard and mouse and check if the computer is able to get into sleep mode.
A hardware device might be keeping your computer awake. USB flash drives and USB mice are common devices that can keep your computer awake
To prevent a device from waking your computer.
1.Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3.Click the Power Management tab and then clear the Allow this device to wake the computer check box.
