My WinXP and Vista (via patch) will allow indexing of a network drive. Win 7 won't-- a giant leap backward? I store a large amount of files on a shared drive. I mapped the drive in Win7, but it's not possible to index. There MUST be a hack/workaround/patch
for this, it's simply too fundamental a requirement. Any solutions?

Well MS have release hotfix
KB2268596. Try installing the hotfix, add the EnableSearchingSlowLibrariesInStartMenu DWORD reg value, then install the UNC addin and try rebuilding the index. Does that now return search results from the network in places like Start search?
Did this solve your problem?
