I recently started to get an error when trying to access my network drive. In attempts to fix it I also disconnected the drive and tried to reconnect. I keep getting the error: Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found
I am able to map to the drive from every other machine in the house hold (Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows Vista). However, the Windows 7 machine continues to report the error.
I've searched the internet for answers and microsoft's website and so far no one seems to have an answer the problem (and it appears to be a very common problem in Windows 7 based on the number of reports I ran into in my search). I'm able to reach the drive via the IP address but unable to log into it (continues to re-prompt for credentials, and I have verified the credentials I am using are 100% correct).
The only major event has been the IP address changed on the remote drive. What this tells me is that windows isn't updating the drive name to the new IP address and is seriously confused as to how to get to the drive passing the correct credentials.
I removed virus protection (one suggestion said that was the cause) but it had zero effect. Checked my sharing permissions and as many different places as I could but nothing has changed and all of it looks correct.
The problem is in Windows 7 but I just don't know where all the configuration "stuff" is on the OS (64 bit) - was used to a 32 bit system. Where do I go to manually correct the DNS or DHCP setting for the drive name?
