Q: Windows 7 Laptop can't see Vista computer. Vista Computer sees the laptop.__

Windows 7 Laptop can't see Vista computer.  Vista Computer sees the laptop.

Network Discovery On
I have tried it with the firewalls off and nothing.

I read something about needing to add the homegroup password to Vista but I haven't seen any instructions on how to do that.

Answer

A:

Hello
Welcome to Microsoft answers

1. Can you ping between the two machines?
2. Have you checked that you don't have the same name on both PCs?
3. Do you get any error message when tried to connect to the computer?

(A). The time zone and your computer clocks have to be in sync.(Microsoft security feature).

(B). Update network card drivers.

(C). I would also suggest you to run the network troubleshooter and check.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Using-the-Network-troubleshooter-in-Windows-7

(D). Try these steps and check if that helps.
1. Open file manager
2. Go to computer (i.e. where you see your disc drives)
3. Right click and select properties.
4. Scroll down to computer name and see if both pc’s have the same name.

If you find same name, then change the name of one of your computers and see if that cures this problem.
